Where was Oprah when all the other first ladies were in the whitehouse?

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden, a so-called black president and first lady are getting major attention from black celebrities? If these celebs care so much about their country, where were they when Laura Bush was first lady?

Just an observation.

Of course you don't get and you never will unless you are african american........this is a very historial thing...........something that most of us never thought we would be alive to see...........our ancestors were treated like animals for years in this country and not allowed to have the same liberties as whites and now it has come full circle and its a very monumental thing.

Huh...maybe like how the Irish were treated in the coal mines or the Chinese on the rail roads or the Polish in the steel mills or how Korean grocers are treated now in "Black" neighborhoods. Cry me a River - it was long time ago, just about everyone can trance their ancestry back to some form of slavery or servitude. Face it - Oprah is a racist and this is just more evidence of it.

Tori, I think I understand what this means for african americans. And it is an important historical precedent. And all Americans would love to celebrate it with them. But, a lot of Americans find it very difficult to celebrate when it is so clear that BO and his wife despise white Americans and do not value (or even understand) the ideas and principles upon which America is founded.

I just happen to think she's racist.

I find her to be condescending to whites. I've heard her make remarks that, had a white person made the remark, blacks would have said they were racist. I've seen her engage in activities and behave in ways that, had the races been reversed, would have resulted in accusations of racism.

Honestly, I don't know whether she's a racist or not. But, if we're going to define standards for what constitutes racism then we must apply them equally to both races or they are not standards. Double standards are, by definition, a fallacy of logic.

Michelle O has learned that Americans aren't so mean: "Even in places where I thought people wouldn't accept or relate to me, I always walked out feeling like, "Wow -- that was fun."

Code word for "I met some white people for the first time in my racist life?"

This cover is old news anyway. Why is MSNBC pushing Oprah yet again? Guess she must own some stock in the company.

Oprah and Michelle. Two of the most self centered rich women that ever existed. Oprah and her so called good deeds. Recently she was telling the story about that cult that had their kids removed for underage marriages as if they were victims.

Funny thing is shes so rich and keeps getting richer off supposedly helping people. She doesn't even research the frauds on her show. Her show has damaged this country beyond measure. She only helps people because she gets gain for it. Said truth is neither one can wash that filthy skin color off and make the honest hard working blacks respected less because of there do nothing paths to fame and fortune.

Michelle Obama is certainly no role model for blacks, she too needed affirmative action to get her foot in the door.

You're probably not aware of this because the lib media didn't play it up much, but Africa loved Bush and Bush gave more aid to Africa than any other US President. Here are a couple of articles:

          http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/30/AR2006123000941.html

          http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/popular-in-africa-bush-has-given-more-aid-than-any-other-us-president-783387.html

If you don't trust me and think they're biased (although both are lib sources) just google "Bush african aid". You'll see lots of articles on it.

Tori, Butterfield's complaint is that blacks are *not* educating themselves, they are making others educate them. And they are doing it at the expense of more qualified non-blacks.

That's what affirmative action is - it's a system that says, "Black people don't have what it takes to get into college and succeed there on their own, so we'll give them special treatment and reserve some college seats just for them even if they don't have the qualifications to make it on their own."

What if the NBA had affirmative action for white players? What if the NBA said, "All you little short white guys, we'll spot you 20 points per game." Or maybe, "We'll only allow black players into the NBA if they're under 5'9" and wear 15 lb weights on their ankles." Wouldn't that seem unfair to you? Don't you see how it would change the game? Make it less about excellence and more about appeasing cry babies? Don't you see why white people would be embarrassed to play in an NBA that had those rules?

Frankly, if I were black I'd be embarrassed by affirmative action.

Of course there are - there are more whites than blacks! This sort of logic is what's so frustrating to whites.

Look, I don't care what Oprah does. I just want the same standards to apply to everyone regardless of race. Isn't that what MLK stood for?

I presume Michelle's racism is still intact - it's too deeply ingrained in her and she doesn't have the intellectual wherewithal or spiritual capacity to overcome it. But, I wonder if she is still embarrassed by her country. Or, now that her husband and a band of anti-Americans are in power and dismantling individual freedom in America, if she is now finally consistently proud of her country.

Actually, these two together is such an ironic scene ...

Have black people endured and fought for centuries for "jobs"? No, they've always had jobs. And they've always been able to get jobs ... anywhere in the world. We all have.

What they fought for is the ability to create wealth - the opportunity for a better life and the chance to, frankly, get rich by the power of individual freedom.

And these two nubian nimnulls - Michelle CluelessWhackjob Obama and Oprah QueenOfSheba Winfrey (or, more like four Queen of Sheba's stuffed into a giant girdle) - are on a mission to abolish individual freedom.

Oh well - apparently once a slave, always a slave.

It brings to mind the sad fact that, among the tribes of Africa it has always been the chiefs who sell out the individuals.

Her show is all about her or what she thinks and her mag-rag crap.  Oprah giving diet advice. Talk about a good laugh. The only book she should be wrighting is  (the yo-yo diet and how I perfected it.) I didn't vote for the Idot. And thank GOD he will only be there for 4 years. I prey that the AMERICAN people will have enough of him by then and not elect him to a 2nd term.

It's not about black or white. What's so infuriating to many of us (some blacks included) is that so many people (including a lot of white libs) think the color of a person's skin is so important. We were supposed to have gotten over that decades ago. Meanwhile, the country is crashing because we've elected a socialist.

I would have voted for Michael Steel over any dem who ran in '08, black or white.

                      It's not about race!

I really enjoyed the Oprah magazine when it first came out. I cancelled it. I'm sick of her self-promotion. (Anyone remember the McCalls which became Rosie magazine?) Hopefully it will go the way of Rosie's magazine - down the tubes. Rosie's was a magazine promoting alternative lifestyles - Oprah's promotes black business people/entertainers/gardeners/writers. How about her "black" ball - if you were white you weren't invited. If a white person did this they'd be SCREAMING "racist"

Yes Tori, try reading a wee bit more history. EVERY group has had their struggle, their servitude, their fight against prejudice. Except, these groups didn't have Federal laws passed assigning quotas for them or preferential treatment from colleges or universities or a myriad of other "unfair" measures. Get off it. I know you are conditioned to see racists behind every tree, but maybe you should open your eyes and realize the vast majority - DON"T GIVE A CRAP about your color. The only one that seems to care is you. For the record, it is not HATE if anyone disagrees with you or Oprah or Mr. Obama. You might get better discourse if you eliminate that from your thinking.

Whites see a lot of what blacks say and do as hypocritical. Example: MLK says, "... the content of your character, not the color of your skin ...". But then we see things like affirmative action, that are based solely on the color of one's skin, it's impossible to come to any other conclusion but that the response to MLK is hypocritical. (Not being black, I can't say how black people think about it. But, being hypocritical is the kiss of death to most whites because it violates things whites value like one's word, one's integrity, one's honor. Once those things are violated the violator no longer has any credibility in the eyes of most whites.)

Whites don't care whether the president is black or white. They only care whether he's any good or not. But, it appears to whites that blacks don't care whether he's any good or not. Only whether he's black or white.

The question of whether he's "any good" is a much larger question. But whites feel that we can never get to that question in discussions with blacks because we can never get past the race thing.

It is great that the Obama's have someone like Oprah on their media side.  I would have thought that Oprah had more learned wisdom then endorsing the ways and means of the rise and rebirth of Hitler communism.  I guess O will now be standing for OPPRESSIVE.  The parallel diversion parallel actions that the Obama's are taking, to centralize government power to Obama himself, is precisely that of Hitler era rebirth.  There is a remake of the Three Stooges movie going to be made.  Guess Oprah should try out for one of them, because she has become an Obama puppet stooge.  She just does not get it.

Aside from all the fat-references and racist-references, I have a question. If, as the First Lady says, the President wants Americans to be safe again, then why doesn't he DO something about the gangs in America? I'm not just talking about the Mexican border, for instance, in Dundalk, Maryland, Berkshire Elementary School - 3 children got beat up for "30 seconds because they refused to join a gang". The initiation was the actual beating of the kids who refused. And the police statement said they had some cause think the beatings were gang-related. Good Lord, do ya think????? When our government ceases to protect us, it's our right to form militia. Is that why the Democratic Party and the President are weakening our Constitutional rights? I'm NOT for anarchy, but this IS STILL America . . . but not for long if Pelosi, Obama and the rest get their way. Where were all those constitutionalists, and conservatives, and closet Republicans in the last election. Watch FOX news for an unbiased newscast . . . well, at least we'll get the other side of the story, anyway.

grammom, one minor point - FOX news doesn't claim to be unbiased. They claim to be fair and balanced. They have libs on to represent the lib view. But, everyone on FOX is perfectly up front and open about their political persuasion. UNlike the "mainstream media", which claims to be "unbiased and objective". (Actually, even the msm has backed off their claim of being "unbiased" since research has shown that they are comprised of 90+% registered dems.)

I wonder if they discussed Oprah's newest sex scandal at her African school or Michelle's racist themed thesis in college?   hmmm - probably not.

Ho hum - yawn.....I didn't see anything of substance in the article. What's the point - is it the White house has good pie or what?

I got a chuckle out of the picture of them together - Oprah with her hands literally clasped. She is breathless with excitement to even be in Michelle's presence. I'm sure Michelle and Obama are perfectly nice people, but the reverance that Oprah holds for them is just comical. Such a powerful woman in her own right, constantly on her knees with tears in her eyes over these two saints...
